Cancer that develops in the female reproductive system, i.e., Ovaries – An oval-shaped endocrine gland observed only in women. There is one ovary found on both sides of the uterus that produces eggs for reproduction. And these ovaries are made up of 3 cells and these cells can evade different types of ovarian cancer, namely:
Epithelial Cancer – One of the common ovarian cancers that develop on the surface of the ovary. Primary Peritoneal Cancer and Fallopian Tube Cancer; both these cancers are part of this cancer.
Germ Cell Cancer – Rare cancer that develops in the reproductive cells or egg-producing cells of the ovary.
Stromal Cell Cancer – An extremely rare cancer that evades in tissue cells that retain the ovary together and develop the female hormones progesterone and estrogen.
The early stage of ovarian cancer may barely show any sign. But sometimes even early-stage may show symptoms like:
Bulging
Pain in the Pelvic area
Unusual feeling full after eating
The urge of Urinating frequently
A stage where the cancer cell has spread from its original site to its nearby tissues and lymph system.
When cancer grows outside the ovary it is termed Advanced Ovarian Cancer. Few women might discover advanced stages when they are first diagnosed and can get cured with the right treatment.
Following are the signs and symptoms:
Weight loss
Indigestion
Loss of hungriness
The initial therapy for epithelial ovarian cancer is chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery that may be provided solely or in combination with other.
Surgery: Operation for removing ovarian cancer involves surgery to remove one ovary, surgery to remove both ovaries, surgery to remove both ovaries and uterus, and surgery for advanced cancer.
Chemotherapy: It is often used for killing any remaining cancer cells after the surgery. Chemotherapy medicine might be injected into veins or consumed by mouth.
Hormone Therapy: In this therapy, specific kinds of drugs are used to block the impact of the hormone oestrogen on ovarian cells. It is also an optimum solution for slow-pace ovarian cancers.
